Hosted at Members Choice Credit Union on Saturday, May 13, 2023, the Community Heroes Celebration was an unforgettable day of fun, food, and recognition. The rain didn't dampen the festivities of the day, as over 200 attendees joined us indoors to continue the spirit of camaraderie, community pride, and a shared appreciation for the men and women who tirelessly dedicate themselves to serving our community.
This was a day filled with joy and gratitude for heroic professions – healthcare professionals, first responders, law enforcement, , the recent Members Choice Credit Union Community Heroes Appreciation Day was more than an event – it was a heartfelt "thank you" to the community heroes that make Houston and Katy the extraordinary community it is today. Every day, these tireless individuals put others before themselves, making sacrifices that too often go unnoticed. We wanted to change that, and this event was our way of saying, "We see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you."
Celebrating with Food and Tunes
Every great celebration begins with delicious food and lively music. Our Community Heroes and attendees were treated to a mouthwatering BBQ lunch catered by none other than Rudy's BBQ – a local legend in the Katy Area and crowd favorite.
Adding to the upbeat atmosphere, a local DJ from Big Music Entertainment spun tunes that echoed the vibrant spirit of our community. From chart-toppers to classic hits, their infectious beats had everyone tapping their feet.
A Day of Unforgettable Highlights
Beyond the sizzling barbecue and catchy beats, the Community Heroes Celebration was packed with unique experiences. Attendees had a chance to marvel at some sporty vehicles from the Mustang Club of Houston, featuring beautifully details American muscle cars. But the surprises didn't stop there! Our local Fire-EMS team from HCESD 48 made a special appearance, bringing their iconic fire truck for everyone to see.
Children's smiles were everywhere out as they engaged in face painting sessions from Beckster Face Painting, transforming into butterflies, superheroes, and more. Our heroic professionals took turns in our "cash cube," winning handfuls of cash prizes. Throughout the day, attendees also had chances to win incredible prizes, including one lucky winner of a 75" LG 4k Smart TV, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.

The Community Heroes Appreciation Event was not merely an event – it was an affirmation of our collective strength, resilience, and compassion. We are Texas, we are community, and we stand together in appreciation of those who go above and beyond to make our home the remarkable place it is.
